Second, we will look at what the PerfectGame Top 25 is facing this weekend. Below that will be the contests we find interesting to keep an eye on this weekend.
1. Tampa (3-0): Tampa will stay at home for another three-game series this weekend, as they face Georgia College in a trio of games.
2. Nova Southeastern (5-0): The defending champs will ratchet up the competition in a big way this weekend, as they hit the road to take on #12 North Georgia for a three-game series. They'll also face Palm Beach Atlantic on the road on Tuesday (Feb. 14), and welcome Florida Memorial in to town on Wednesday (Feb. 15).
3. West Florida (1-3): The Argos picked up their first win of the year on Wednesday against Spring Hill, 13-8, but will face a surging Rollins team on the road this weekend for a three-game series. They'll also take on Auburn-Montgomery on Wednesday (Feb. 15).
4. Cal Poly Pomona (2-3): CPP isn't quite off to the start they had hoped for (I'm guessing), but they have a chance to rebound in a big way this weekend. They will face #11 Point Loma in a three-game series, with two games at home (Thursday, 2/9 and Monday, 2/13) book-ending a game on the road on Saturday (Feb. 11).
5. USC Aiken (4-0): The Pacers are rolling to begin the year after picking up a 12-8 victory over Wingate on Wednesday (Feb. 8), and they'll be at home this weekend for a three-game set against Shepherd as they look to extend their season-opening winning streak.
6. Lubbock Christian (5-0): The Chaps are sitting at 5-0 after picking up a 2-1 victory against Adams State at home to begin a four-game series. LCU and ASU will match-up for a doubleheader on Friday (Feb. 10) and finish things off with a single game on Saturday (Feb. 11).
7. Minnesota State (0-0): The Mavericks won't hit the field until February 25th, when they take on Minnesota-Crookston at U.S. Bank Stadium.
8. Colorado Mesa (0-0): Arguably the biggest series of the weekend, the Mavericks will hit the road to take on #9 Dixie State in a three-game series over the weekend to begin their season.
9. Dixie State (4-0): Dixie State is looking to clear the hurdle this year in to postseason success, and they'll have a big chance to prove themselves early, as they face the aforementioned #8 Colorado Mesa for three games this weekend at home.
10. Belmont Abbey (3-2): Belmont Abbey is riding a three-game winning streak as they head in to a three-game series at home with Tusculum this weekend, and a single contest against Carson-Newman on Tuesday (Feb. 14).
11. Point Loma (2-2): The Sea Lions split a season-opening series with Chico State, and it gets even tougher this weekend as they take on #4 Cal Poly Pomona in a three-game series, with the middle game on Saturday (Feb. 11) taking place at home. They'll be on the road for the Thursday (Feb. 9) and Monday (Feb. 13) contests.
12. North Georgia (4-0): The Nighthawks rolled through their first four games, outscoring their opponents 50-9 to start the year, but that trend is probably not going to continue this weekend. UNG welcomes the reigning champions, #2 Nova Southeastern, in to town for a three-game series this weekend.
13. Emporia State (2-1): Emporia will open its home portion of the schedule, and the beginning of a nine-game homestand, with three games against Metro State this weekend.
14. Franklin Pierce (0-0): As one of the dreaded non-Southern or non-Western teams, the Ravens will have to wait until the weekend of Feb. 23-26 for their first competition, when they head to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Ripken Experience against Felician, Queens (N.Y.), Wilmington and LIU Post.
15. Southern Indiana (0-0): Just like the last few seasons, the Screaming Eagles will begin their season down South against Tampa, when they take on the Spartans in a three game series, Feb. 17-19.
16. Mercyhurst (0-0): The Lakeshow will have a couple more weeks to think quietly among themselves, as they begin their season on Feb. 18 with a doubleheader against West Virginia State.
17. St. Mary's (3-1): The Rattlers picked up a 10-6 victory on Tuesday (Feb. 7) against Our Lady of the Lake, and they'll stay at home again this weekend for a three-game series against Tarleton State.
18. Millersville (3-0): Millersville is off this weekend before heading to North Carolina for four games next weekend against Charleston and Pitt-Johnstown.
19. Wayne State (Mich.) (0-0): One of the GLIAC favorites, the Warriors will begin their season in Nashville on Feb. 17 and 18 with three games against Trevecca Nazarene.
20. Florida Tech (3-1): FIT will be involved in their own Top-25 series, as they welcome #25 Lincoln Memorial in to town for a three-game series on Friday (Feb. 10) and Saturday (Feb. 11). They'll also take on Felician College on Wednesday (Feb. 15).
21. Angelo State (2-1): The Rams are at home this weekend for a three-game series against SE Oklahoma State.
22. Augustana (1-4): Augie will take this weekend off after their long trip to Hawaii, but they'll be back at it next weekend when they head to Lindenwood for a three-game series.
23. Azusa Pacific (4-1): APU got started on an early series with Cal State-San Bernardino already, claiming victories on Wednesday (Feb. 8), 15-4, and on Thursday (Feb. 9), 8-5.
