The 2021 MLB Draft was a little bit of a return to normalcy, as the draft expanded from its five rounds in 2020 to 20 rounds this year. Still a far cry from the "regular" 40 that we had become accustomed to. However, it is still ample opportunity for some of Division II's most talented student-athletes to find their spot in the professional world. Over the last three days, we had just that, as 22 D-II baseball players were drafted in this year's event. We have all the numbers and statistics for them below.
Filling you in regularly on NCAA Division II baseball action around the country. We will provide analysis, interesting stats and, as usual, spectacular hot takes.

2019 MLB Draft Division II Recap
The 2019 MLB Draft featured 87 Division II players being picked, the most since 2016 (92 players), and stays pretty consistent with last year's 84 players drafted. A few surprises were at the top of the list in terms of which schools produced the most picks. In past years, we've been acclimated to the likes of Tampa and UC San Diego leading the way in number of picks. This year, five schools shared the distinction for most draft picks, with four. Usual suspect Tampa was included in that group, along with fellow SSC schools Eckerd and Rollins, with Western Oregon and Lubbock Christian also representing.

2018 MLB Draft Division II Recap
The 2018 MLB Draft has come and gone, and we had 84 Division II products drafted, which is the same number as in 2015, a tad below 2016's 92, and an increase of 11 over 2017's 73. We had a three-way tie for the school with the highest number of players drafted, as Colorado Mesa, Tampa, and UC San Diego all had four players drafted in 2018.

2017 MLB Draft Division II Recap
The newest class of Division II players has gone through the rigors of the 2017 MLB Draft, and we had 73 players hear their names called over the three-day event. That is a bit of a down tick compared to the 92 drafted in 2016 and 84 drafted in 2015. However, Tampa had seven players drafted, the most of any D-II school in any of the last three years, besting the previous high of five (Cal Poly Pomona and Tampa - 2015). We've only been keeping track of such things since 2015, so there isn't much history, but I have to think seven is a large number for any year.

Day five is in the books, and we down to the final four teams vying for the national championship. The favorites to begin the week are out, and we have a wide-open field left. Pitching was down around Division II this season, but are the talented staffs showing up when needed?
